About My Services

I offer consultation packages tailored to families who want guidance from an experienced professional but don't feel the need for a doula's presence at the birth itself or ongoing in-home postpartum. I specialize in supporting cesarean birth families, whose unique set of needs are not often captured by the typical doula package. Of course, I love supporting families across the entire range of birth experiences!

Consultations are a wonderful option for families:

  • Who prefer private, individualized education to the typical group setting
  • Who are planning a cesarean birth
  • Who are expecting their second child and feel they "know the drill" but want to learn more about their options, typical Bay Area hospital practices, or VBAC
  • Who want experienced guidance but are working with a budget
  • Who prefer an intimate family-only birth experience but want the insights of a doula before and after
  • Who are the first of their friends to have children and want thorough, up-to-date guidance

The packages described below meet the needs of most families, but if you're looking for something a little different, I'm happy to make a custom package.

Cesarean Preparation & Parenthood Package

Although 1 in 3 babies in the United States is born by cesarean section, few of us know what actually happens during a cesarean birth and what to expect in the days, weeks, and months to follow. Whether medically indicated or elective, parents birthing via planned cesarean have a unique set of needs. As your cesarean doula, I can help you learn more about the surgery itself, the options available to you, and how to set yourself up for success after the birth. I specialize in supporting you to feel empowered and supported throughout your experience so that you can look back on your birth with joy and love.

This package includes:

  • Prenatal consultation to discuss cesarean birth: plans, questions, goals, and expectations

  • A postpartum visit in the hospital after your birth to help you with breast/chestfeeding, comfort measures, and more

  • An additional postpartum visit once you have returned home to help you through the transition into life with your new baby

  • Phone, text, and/or email support from our first meeting through 6 weeks postpartum

Cesarean Parenthood Package

When you’ve planned for a vaginal birth, the set of challenges that can come with cesarean birth are often overwhelming. Physical recovery can be especially challenging for birthing parents who labored for hours or days before their cesarean, and emotions may be raw. With the sensitivity that comes from having supported other parents through cesareans and having had one myself, I can meet you and your family where you’re at, both literally and figuratively. I can provide in-hospital and at-home doula care to complement the support of your medical team and loved ones. This package includes three visits during which I can support you with:

  • Breast/chestfeeding

  • Expectations and comfort measures for physical recovery

  • Processing your birth experience

  • Solutions for the additional hurdles in newborn care that a cesarean birth sometimes creates

  • Learning how to ask your friends and family for help and what to ask for

  • Resources and recommendations for professionals, products, and services

  • Text, phone, and/or email support from my first visit through 6 weeks postpartum
